I am an assistant professor of Culture and New Media at the University of Toronto, with appointments at the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology and the Faculty of Information. I research digital labour, hacking and digital countercultures, and the political economy of science and technology.

In the past I have worked and/or taught at University of California Davis and McGill University. I have a PhD in Science & Society from the University of Milan (and visited or studied at SISSA, UCLA and Edinburgh). In a previous life I was a vet and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Parma.
