I am an associate professor at the University of Toronto, with appointments at the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology and the Faculty of Information.

I research several different facets of digital capitalism, including the evolving relation between technology and work, the role of digital countercultures and resistance, and the production, ownership and distribution of information and knowledge.

In the past I have worked and/or taught at University of California Davis and McGill University. I have a PhD in Science & Society from the University of Milan (and visited or studied at SISSA, UCLA and Edinburgh). In a previous life I was a vet and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Parma.
