I am an associate professor at the University of Toronto, and thus live and work in Tkaronto, on Dish With One Spoon territory, which is traditional Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee land.

I hold appointments at the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology and at the Faculty of Information.

My research addresses the different facets of digital capitalism, including the evolving relation between technology and work, the role of digital countercultures and resistance, and the production of scientific knowledge.

In the past I have worked and/or taught at the University of California Davis and at McGill University. I have a PhD in Science & Society from the University of Milan (and visited or studied at SISSA, UCLA and Edinburgh). In a previous life I was a vet and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Parma.
